Oceania Healthcare Centre

Nurse Practitioner 1

New Zealand is facing a General Practitioner (GP) crisis, with many in the community facing longer wait times for appointments.

Whether it’s maintaining your wellness, responding to new symptoms as they arise, or managing any existing conditions, we know how important receiving timely and consistent care is, to both our residents and their whānau.

This is why Oceania has established a ground-breaking way in which to overcome these challenges with an aim to provide the high standard of holistic primary care our residents deserve.

Oceania’s Own Primary Care Practice

Oceania’s solution to the growing pressures on the primary health system has been creating our very own Primary Care Practice, which spans across the majority of our Care Centres all the way from Auckland to Christchurch.

Just like any other medical practice, our Oceania Health Care Centre allows you to enrol as a patient, have your medical records stored safely and centrally, and to be seen by a skilled healthcare professional for your health concerns.

The key difference with Oceania’s model, is rather than using a contractor GP service, we directly employ highly-trained Nurse Practitioners that are based on-site several days a week.

Our Services

Our service offers the same level of clinical support you would expect from your GP, with the added benefit of being right here in your care community. From everyday health concerns to more complex needs, residents have access to skilled assessment, prescribing, diagnostic testing and ongoing management without needing to leave the village.

It means timely care, familiar faces and a seamless experience that puts comfort, clarity and wellbeing first.

Care Centre Appointments

Residents in our participating Care Centres can enrol with our Primary Care Practice to be seen by a Nurse Practitioner based onsite. The cost of typical appointments are covered by the Daily Care Fee, however additional services such as liquid nitrogen treatment or unfunded vaccines, or extended appointments may incur an extra cost.

Retirement Village Appointments

We are currently rolling out our Nurse Practitioner Clinics at some of our Retirement Villages to give our independent residents convenient access to Primary Care on their doorstep. Residents enrol and pay just like they would at any GP Practice. Contact the Village or Sales Manager to find out if the Oceania Village you are considering offers this service.

Management and Feedback

Jenny Burge

GM Primary Care

With over 30 years in health care as an RN and Senior Leader, my role is to support patients, their families, and our dedicated team. I aim to foster a culture of accountability and advocacy, empowering patients and their whānau to collaborate with their Nurse Practitioner to make informed health decisions.

My focus includes removing barriers to care, especially for vulnerable populations, and integrating patient feedback into our practice policies to build trust and transparency.

Accountability is essential for effective leadership and high-quality, safe, and respectful care. We maintain clear feedback channels and ensure transparent resolution of concerns. For staff, accountability means upholding professional standards and providing support, training, and resources. Effective delegation, conflict resolution, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere are key to leading our team.
